When the server remounts, it will start backing them up again. If the server were to dismount, the /mount folder will appear empty to BackBlaze, causing it to start deletion of the files there in the backup set. It is going to be very important for the server to remain constantly mounted. I’m surprised that the BackBlaze software doesn’t check for mounted file systems, though. It’s a good idea to mount your Synology share into your home folder to get BackBlaze to back it up. You could use the Cloud Sync package on the Synology with one-way syncing of the share to a cloud solution (I use B2 here as well). You can use another Backup app like Arq, which will handle network shares, and have Arq backup the network share to the target of your choice (including BackBlaze B2, which is what I use), but bear in mind that you pay for storage used with this type of solution, rather than a flat fee for unlimited storage as with BackBlaze backup. You can do the clone every hour, for instance, although there is a lot of overhead with doing this. If you need a more “real time” backup of the Synology share, there are a few solutions. The best solution I have seen for using BackBlaze backup for network shares is as another poster has mentioned: Attach a USB drive of sufficient size to the Mac, have Carbon Copy Cloner (or similar software) clone the Synology shares of interest to that US drive, and let BackBlaze back up the USB drive. I don’t think this is what you are looking for. ![]() However, the storage used in this way is NOT a Synology network available share, and cannot be accessed by any machines as a network share it would be the same as a locally attached USB drive in concept. The Synology then behaves exactly like it was an external drive attached to the Mac you format the drive using Disk Utility, and BackBlaze will see it as a local drive and back it up. However, this is probably NOT what you want. There are paid versions available, and I believe free versions as well. This is not natively supported by MacOS, and requires software called “SCSI initiator” to be installed on the Mac. With both your Mac and the Synology on your LAN, you basically make some or all of the Synology storage look like a local drive, via an interface that looks like SCSI, but uses Ethernet as the underlying hardware rather than a (now obsolete) SCSI hardware interface and cable. There is a way to connect the Synology so that it looks like a local disk, and that is to use SCSI over Ethernet. I always want my backup strategies to be reliable. You may be able to “fool” BackBlaze by mounting Synology shares to non-standard locations as describe above, but I would be reluctant to rely on that approach in that it is possible for the BackBlaze software to detect such mount points and you might find your backups silently fail at some point. You cannot connect the Synology to your Mac via USB there is no software on either end to make this connection work.īackBlaze backup is not designed to allow backups of network shares. ![]() This was definitely one of my favorite places, but between the beach and smaller pool that was crowded, my kids didn't care for it. My husband and I also used the fitness room every morning, we were usually the only ones. Located along a lovely beach, the 40-room Sunset Key Cottages resort caters to the upscale traveler with elegant, homey cottages and high-end amenities. You can only take the ferry from KW to Sunset if you are a hotel guest of have a reservation at Latitude's which was nice, absolutely no extra people on the island. Latitude's was absolutely beautiful and yummy. We ordered food from Flippers a couple of times and had one lunch and one dinner at Latitude's. I was worried that the pool would be too warm since its so hot in KW but they keep it cool enough that it was refreshing on a hot day. We saw sting rays and jellyfish swimming around us which my kids thought was pretty cool. We brought water shoes and some of us used them and some of us didn't. As other reviewers have stated, the beach is rocky and that is true but it didn't stop us from enjoying it. Some days we were the only ones out there on the beach but it was wonderful. Key West resorts in general don't really offer beachfront access so the fact that Sunset had a private beach is what sold us. Key West is a busy and happening place and Sunset Key is a relaxing lowkey paradise which was just what we were looking for. We just returned from a 5 night stay, family of 6 (including 4 teenagers), we stayed in a 2 bedroom oceanfront cottage just steps from the beach. After our very quick check in Kate then authorized these really cool wristbands to enter our room, no more lost keys, and then proceeded to personally walk us directly to our room to ensure the room was to our liking! And this is where it gets even better! Our room exceeded our expectation plus we had a welcome cheese and cracker plate as well as refrigerator filled with waters, sodas, and alcohol all included for NO additional fee! What was really cool is that Kate overheard that I enjoyed fishing, and after she toured the room with us she showed back up to our cottage with a fishing pole, tackle box and frozen bait to catch all the fish I wanted! This is actually a very simple trick so I'll try and explain it as best I can. 6 x 2 is actually 6 + 6 and 8 x 2 is the same as 8 + 8.ĭouble it then double it again! It is simply a matter of doubling the number then doubling the answer. Let's take a look at a couple of tricks:ĭouble it! Two times a number simply means add the number twice. The great thing with times tables is that there are many tricks that can help your child memorise them more easily. Change the quantities and objects until your child feels confident enough to move on. This kind of practice can be done as many times as needed for the child to comprehend the idea of multiplication. If you add up all the piles of pennies you will have twelve pennies in total. It also means you have three times four ( 3 x 4). Explain that you have four pennies, three times. Take a jar of pennies and put three piles of four pennies. Multiplication is just sequential adding. Two times six is twelve, two sixes and double six is twelve.Īnother thing to remember is that multiplying gives the same answer forwards as it does backwards ( 1 x 2 is the same as 2 x 1) so as you move up the numbers you're already half-way there. For example, the sum 2 x 6 also means double six. With the two's it just about explaining that we are doubling that number. Lego, coins, pebbles anything that can show how when we have one number and multiply it by another the first number grows. A great way of explaining this is by using real objects. Whenever we multiply a number, the answer gets bigger by whatever the multiplier is. When it comes to the rest of the numbers it's about explaining how multiplication works. Whenever we play hide-and-seek for example, the finder always has to count up in fives to one hundred! ![]() Teaching your child to count up in fives can also be part of a game. The easiest way to learn the five times tables is probably parrot-fashion and learning them in a rhythm:įive - ten - fifteen - twenty - twenty-five - thirty - thirty-five - forty - forty-five - fifty etc. The five times tables are pretty straight-forward too and shouldn't take too long to learn. To multiply any number by 10 you simply put a zero on the end of it. The ten times tables are by far the easiest as they require no understanding about how the tables work. The best order for learning the times tables, in my opinion, are as follows: Explaining the drill will ensure your child sees that learning their times tables is not going to be as difficult as they may have heard. So by starting with the 1's you are introducing your child to the times tables in a very easy way. This will not only help build your child's confidence as they are learning but will also make the transition from the lower numbers to the higher numbers far easier. It is much easier and far more constructive to start with the easy numbers first. A common mistake people tend to make is working their way through the numbers in order. It's a matter of going over and over them until your child feels confident that they have learnt them. No-one ever said that learning times tables was easy. We at First Tutors understand the importance of teaching our children the times tables so we've come up with three easy ways we think will aid in getting your child to remember their times tables. And of course times tables are something that will help in all aspects of both school life and adult life. Times tables are so important to a child's learning they will help them conquer Maths much easier if they know their times tables by heart. For some children it is easier than for others but from my experience all children need a helping hand. There comes a time in every parents life where the inevitable times-tables learning will come up. |
